Design Contests and Architects - Fifth Dimension

Design Contests

Quite often Architects enter design contests of all kinds.  Sometimes (in regards to architecture) patrons or corporations hold an open-invite competition to solicit ideas and find a talented pool of Architects for their upcoming project.  Or sometimes the group holding the competition invites a few select firms to compete for a commission.  But what ever the method the organizers employ, the participating Architects fire-up their skills and get their creative mojo flowing.

Which brings me to my current situation.  I keep an eye on what competitions are going on that may be of interest to me, whether professionally or personally of interest.  And yesterday I saw this opportunity to design and maybe win a really cool pair of custom skis.  Really cool, at least to me, because if you’ve read my “About Dan” page you know I’m into outdoor activities, skiing being one of them.

Vote for me!

Here’s my entry:

By clicking on this contest link you’ll be whisked away to Facebook and the contest voting page.  My design is the dark/black/red one with “Daniel” as the entrant name.  I know, I know, it isn’t a contest to design a building, but what’s the point of writing an architecture blog if you can’t champion your own causes once and a while?

Have a crazy design need, maybe not a house or a building per se, and don’t know where to start?  Get in contact with me and let’s see what we can cook up!
